Mt Buller

Mt Buller has delivered an exciting running calendar this summer season, and with two more events scheduled there is something special for every level of competitor. With clean mountain air, inspiring views and kilometres of off-road trails, Mt Buller is fast becoming a must-do destination for all running disciplines. The diverse terrain combined with an altitude of up to 1805m offers a world of possibilities for running events.

Following on from the success of the inaugural, epic 100km Oscars Hut 2 Hut in February, Mt Buller’s summer of running continues with the Mt Buller Skyrun on 2 April 2017, and the Mountain High Fun Run on 15 April (Easter Saturday).

Not for the faint-hearted the Mt Buller Skyrun is a big event with big distances and big views. Runners choose from 22km, 36km and 45km on courses that take in the superb mountainous scenery of the Bluff, Cross Cut Saw, Mt Buller, Mt Stirling, and the Delatite Valley. Using a combination of historic mountain tracks, fire roads, and purpose-built single track this event takes runners far into the wilds of the High Country, on one of the most challenging events on the running calendar.

Easter will see the annual Mountain High Fun Run held at Mt Buller on Saturday 15 April, a popular event suitable for runners of all levels. The Mountain High Fun Run features four course options; for families and beginners the leisurely 3km Village Views takes a casual lap around the Mt Buller Village, while the 6km Summit Sizzler and 9km Buller Breaker puts more serious runners through their paces. The popular 15km Mountain Madness encompasses some of the best scenery and most demanding tracks that Mt Buller has to offer, including the gruelling 200 metre vertical climb to the summit fire hut. Supporting the Mansfield District Hospital, this annual event attracts over 400 runners each year.
