Wellington is being introduced to the high-energy sport of competitive cheerleading this weekend, with the region’s first competition running on Sunday.  This is no stereotypical pom pom shaking on the sidelines though, the two and half minute routines are crammed full of gymnastic tumbling, stunts and basket tosses, which see girls being lifted and thrown into the air while pulling different tricks.  Add the dance, lighting, sparkly uniforms and pumping music mashes, and the result is a stage-worthy performance.

ITU triathlon returns to Hamburg for the 10th year in a row this year, as a host of London-bound athletes get ready for a fast and furious sprint in their final pre-games preparation. However, it’s not all about Olympic fever, as this race marks the second half of this year’s WTS series, with only Stockholm, Yokohama and the Auckland Grand Final to come, the battle for world title points is starting to get serious.
