Hyundai wins at World Rowing Champs

Hyundai owners and guests were among the VIP visitors at the World Rowing Champs at Lake Karapiro.The highly successful event attracted 65,000 people lakeside throughout 8 days. This was the highest record of attendees in the history of the World Rowing Championships. Hyundai people commanded a view of the lake and its thrilling sports action from a specially-constructed hospitality centre. And one of them, Liz Malcolm of Gisborne, scored a luxury weekend escape to Lake Taupo, complete with a Hyundai Santa Fe to drive while there. That was the glamour prize in a lucky draw for Hyundai Karapiro visitors. Hyundai New Zealand was a National Supporting Partner of the championships and organising officials chose to drive Hyundai vehicles during the massive build-up to the event. An award winning range of Hyundai vehicles were provided by Hyundai New Zealand in support of the World Rowing Championships. These included 12 of New Zealand’s family wagon, the Hyundai Santa Fe, three Hyundai i30 hatches, the current AA Motoring Excellence Supreme Winner, and five Hyundai iMax vans. All were adorned with World Rowing Championships livery and provided comfortable, economical and safe transport throughout the event. “This was New Zealand’s largest sports event since the 1990 Commonwealth Games, so of course Hyundai New Zealand was right there,” commented the Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai New Zealand, Tom Ruddenklau. “As a 100 percent Kiwi-owned and operated company we take immense pride in supporting the iconic events and people of our nation. “We are delighted to have played a role in an event now receiving worldwide praise for its efficiency and success …. another happy event for New Zealand.” Hyundai was in the medals as well, with sponsored athletes Storm Uru and Peter Taylor taking bronze in the lightweight men’s double sculls.
