Destination Great Lake Taupo

If ideas for your upcoming winter holiday have left you stumped, a new campaign rolled out by regional tourism organisation, Destination Great Lake Taupo (DGLT) will have you buzzing.

Together with local operators and service providers, DGLT have launched an exciting series of unique holiday packages that are set to be auctioned via iconic New Zealand trading site, Trade Me.

The first auction, Ruapehu at Sunrise, went live to the public last week and offers bidders a once in a lifetime opportunity to ski or snowboard Mount Ruapehu at sunrise, ensuring guaranteed fresh tracks, no pesky lift lines and views worthy of any postcard, plus plenty of additional extras including sumptuous meals that will cap off an unforgettable experience on the slopes.

All proceeds from the auctions will go towards a deserving local charity group or organisation, the first recipient being Project Tongariro who plan to use the funds to maintain the ecology of Tongariro National Park for future generations.

Running from May through to August, the auctions will offer bidders an opportunity to seize a unique experience not available to the public, and one which is sure to provide enviable and unforgettable holiday memories.

Heralded as nature’s ultimate playground, the Great Lake Taupo region offers visitors from all walks of life an experience like no other. Be it a thrill-seekers’ adventure, an environmentalist encounter, a family fun weekend or a relaxing mini break, the region boasts a backdrop worthy of five stars to accompany any experience.
