This stunning series of world champion freediver Guillaume Nery shows the French man doing his thing— and by that, we mean taking a deep breath and diving up to 125 metres underwater alongside a guide line, but not touching it, while wearing fins and without the aid of any breathing apparatus. Nery belongs to a rare breed of free divers who physically punish their bodies and risk their lives defying natural law as they fight for every extra metre in the name of both sport and art. Aesthetics are an important part of freediving and in this exclusive series, photographer Ian Derry captures beautifully the sheer serenity of Nery's underwater ballet.
