In a time where the upcycling trend has never been so popular, Dylon’s Machine Wash Dyes ($11.95) can turn your forgotten items into your new-season essential pieces!

Whether it’s a faded cotton shirt that was formerly a favourite, a cushion or duvet cover that’s definitely seen better days, winter is the ideal time to get creative and breathe new life into your fabrics.

And where dying fabrics once seemed like a daunting task, today’s Dylon formulas ensure simple and fail-safe success. In fact, you can turn your item from drab to fab in just minutes wth most of the work being done by your washing machine, giving you time to sit back and reflect on how smart you are to create new pieces for your wardrobe without pulling out the credit card!

The only dilemma you may face is choosing your colour from Dylon’s dynamic range.

For best results, you will need to review type of fabric*, the weight of fabric** and the original colour of the fabric*** you use before you begin.

And it’s not one bit tricky! All of this information is clearly explained on each pack, and for further confidence check out our 3-minute tutorial videos on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/dylonnewzealand

From here, it’s as simple as putting on a load of washing. Carefully place the Dylon Dye Powder and 500g of salt into the drum of your front-loading washing machine, along with the just-washed and still damp item you want dyed. And then you’re good to go, simply start a 40-degree cycle and the colour magic will take place.

Once the dye-cycle is complete, add your usual detergent and run another 40 degree cycle to get rid of any unrequired dye. And to further clean your washing machine you can always run an empty cycle with detergent only.

Using Dylon Machine Wash Dyes will not harm your washing machine, nor will the colour come into contact with any fabric you wash afterwards.

This bright idea from Dylon is an easy, clean and fun way to invigorate your home interior or to add some wow-factor to your wardrobe. Research has proven the positive impact colour has on our mood, so with that in mind what’s stopping you from literally getting colour-happy this winter!
