New Zealanders will be given the opportunity to compete at Dance Worlds for the first time, thanks to the launch of a new national dance competition.

DanceBrandz are launching their inaugural premier dance competition DanceBrandz Nationals 2014 at the Bruce Mason Centre in Auckland on September 14.

Independent qualified judges will be on hand to score each performance and provide valuable feedback to the artists. And in a first for New Zealand, three winning dance troupes will have the chance to win bids to the World Dance Championships, held in Disney World Florida during May 2015.

While the opportunity to win Bids to Dance Worlds will be appealing for some dancers, the event organisers have ensured this competition will be accessible to dancers of every level. DanceBrandz Nationals Competition is open to all ages, and offers a variety of divisions from solos to dance troupes, beginners through to seasoned professionals.  There is also a wide variety of dance genre categories including jazz, hip hop and open dance.

“We are incredibly excited to be giving New Zealander’s the opportunity to compete for the first time at the Dance World Championships, where they’ll be up against dancers from over 40 different countries. There is an amazing amount of dance talent in this country and we’re thrilled to give them the opportunity to showcase their ability on the world stage” said DanceBrandz Founder, Kimberley Ramsay.

DanceBrandz is a newly established business enabling dance companies throughout New Zealand to have access to a fresh, fun and exhilarating competitive dance environment with professional and independent judging, state of the art lighting, sound and video projection.  DanceBrandz have also imported two full size professional Marley Dance Floors for the competition. One will be used on stage for the competitive performances, and the other will be available backstage for dancers to warm up on.

“I found there was a real gap in the dance market and dancers could really benefit from a positive and exciting competitive environment that offered a level playing field, and catering to all different ages and abilities. Ultimately, we know how hard competitors work and we wanted to provide an event where their accomplishments would be recognized and leave feeling excited and inspired about their passion for dance,” said Kimberley Ramsay.

Entries for the DanceBrandz national competition are now open. For more information and to enter visit www.dancebrandz.com
