No other creature in New Zealand is as loved or as well-known as the kiwi – and now Queenstown’s Jack’s Point Clubhouse & Restaurant is joining the fight to save our national bird with a fundraising cocktail event named ‘Nocturnal’ on Saturday July 26.

Nocturnal will be a black tie evening with a difference – introducing a Queenstown audience to some of New Zealand’s best up-and-coming young musical talent alongside musicians who have already stamped their mark on the world stage.

A charity event for ‘Kiwis For kiwi’, a partnership between the Kiwi Trust and the Department of Conservation, all funds raised in an online auction through TradeMe, which will go live on July 11, will be pledged to help protect precious kiwi populations from predators and restore the health of their natural environment.

Every $100 raised will provide protection from predators for an entire year for a kiwi, with a vision of seeing kiwi go from ‘endangered to everywhere’.

This charity cocktail event, to be held from 7pm until late, will feature music by Barnaby Weir + Friends, Kara Gordon, Julia Deans, Estere and beats from DJ Hudge from George FM.

Operations Manager Larni Wedd says the event was born out of a desire to “engage with our environment and create an event showcasing what we do best at Jack’s Point Restaurant”.

“Jack’s Point is an outstanding location in which to hold private events and celebrations, a stunning and unique venue that can transform itself to suit the mood and the occasion. It’s designed to be both spacious and intimate at the same time,” she says.

“We have this beautiful building, with its rustic natural features, nestled in this stunning alpine environment with some of the best views in New Zealand. Complement that with the fresh and seasonal cuisine produced by our outstanding chef Vaughan Mabee and his team, along with delicious drinks and an incredible music line up and you have all the elements for an event like Queenstown hasn’t seen before.”

The $169 a ticket event will see guests receive a welcome glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne, a Broken Shed vodka cocktail, and plentiful canapés throughout the evening. The ticket price also includes complimentary transport to Jack’s Point from Queenstown, Arrowtown and Frankton.  Taxis will be waiting to transport guests back home at the end of the night.
