Setting up Camper in New Zealand

Camper, the international shoe brand opens its first custom designed retail store in Auckland’s CBD on 20 August.

With more than 400 stores in 50 countries globally, and no two stores alike, Camper’s newest store at 53 High Street has been designed by European interior designer Marti Guixe with his typical bold, fun and whimsical stamp.

It will range shoes for men, women and kids.  Known for beautiful design and craftsmanship, Camper use only quality materials selected to last the distance, and while classic in style all designs feature an original twist.

None more than Camper’s Twins range (www.camper.com/en_NZ/lines/twins) which challenges the concept that left and right shoes should be the same, and every pair offers a compatible yet non identical styled foot.  The company has released a new odd-pair every year since 1988; this summer’s Twins for women is a soft red leather flat with tiny geometric cut out shapes repeated through the asymmetric pair.

True to Camper’s Spanish roots, the Spring and Summer collection for women is casual, and features natural materials such as cork, wood, rope and raffia in platforms, sandals, clogs, and 2-inch heels that are made for strolling up the Ramblas.

Cork is a supple and light material with infinite design possibilities used to dress the citrus hued leather of the Servolux and Lara wedge sandals in orange and lime.

Full grain and supple tan leather straps are used to cover the sole of the Pistacchio, atop a stacked wooden heel finished with a playful orange sole.

Suede features again in the caramello-coloured heel and cream leather of Stardust.

The natural materials contrast with vibrant and intense dyed leather and suede which feature heavily, including Laura, a semi-open toed sandal that feels like an ankle-boot in azure leather, combining all the lightness of a beech wedge with the suppleness of a rubber sole.
