Invercargill resident's inspiring story leads to award nomination

Invercargill resident, Stephanie Chalmer’s inspirational life story has captured the attention of Weight Watchers, with Stephanie selected as the only Kiwi amongst ten finalists in the Inspirational Journeys Award, part of the annual Weight Watchers Healthy Life Awards.

This new category is the first time that entry to the Healthy Life Awards has been open to the general public from across Australia and New Zealand and was launched by Weight Watchers in recognition of how difficult the first steps to weight loss and healthy life changes can be.

Stephanie had always struggled to maintain a healthy weight but was it was only when she saw pictures of herself trying on her wedding dress that the reality hit home that she needed to change her lifestyle. This inspired her to join Weight Watchers where on the program she was able to embark on a weight loss journey, joining her local Invercargill Weight Watchers group. Since joining in early 2013, the 23 year old has undergone a lifestyle transformation, shedding 18.5% per cent of her body weight.

This achievement hasn’t been without overcoming the biggest hurdle Stephanie could ever face   - in late 2013 the sudden tragic loss of her fiancé catapulted her world into chaos and it was with the support of leader Sharyn that she’s been able to maintain her healthy lifestyle over such a difficult period in her life.  

Stephanie and nine other inspiring finalists from across Australia and New Zealand will receive a 12-month Weight Watchers Unlimited membership to help them with their weight loss journey.
