The Mandurah Wetlands are one of the most vulnerable ecosystems on the planet, with more than 100 bird species calling it home.

Protected by the Ramsar convention the Mandurah Wetlands are part of a global network of environments essential to the breeding cycle of many migratory species. Six of these wetlands being in New Zealand.

In this magnificent book award-winning photographer David Rennie captures glimpses of the raw and natural beauty of this threatened landscape.

David, who suffers from bipolar disorder, would often be in the field day and night. In manic times, unable to sleep, he would stalk the birds he loved to photograph, capturing “the perfect second in which light and landscape rendered their magic”.

David has won many awards for his work, including the prestigious Australian Geographic ANZANG Nature Photographer of the Year in 2013.

Art In Nature includes an inspired selection of the strikingly memorable images that now comprise his vast collection.

The result is a book that will captivate not just bird lovers but all who appreciate the art we find in nature.

Also available in a limited collector’s edition.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
David Rennie is a late-blooming, self-taught photographer. He jokes that when he started out he thought ISO was a measurement for radioactive materials and shutter speed an indication of how fast your venetian blinds closed! Today he is an award-winning nature photographer and a passionate advocate for conserving our wilderness areas. As David says, ‘It would be gut-wrenching if our children’s children could only see what we can now through books like this and not out in nature.’

Art and Nature is available from www.exislepublishing.co.nz and wherever good books are sold. RRP$59.99
