Crown Range Cellar has been awarded two silver medals at the 2014 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for their Signature Selection Grant Taylor Pinot Noir 2012 and 2013, following on from a silver medal win at the 2014 International Spiegelau Wine Competition for the 2013 vintage.

Founded in 1969, the IWSC is considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world.

Queenstown based Crown Range Cellar, partners with New Zealand’s top wine makers to produce the finest quality wines in limited quantities.

“We are delighted to receive two silver medals at this year’s IWSC. This success clearly highlights Crown Range Cellar’s commitment to only partner with the best winemakers to produce premium wines. Crown Range Cellar highly values our partnership with multi-award winning winemaker Grant Taylor, his skill and expertise is recognised internationally and his craftsmanship and artistry has once again been endorsed by the judges at the IWSC,” says Jing Song – Managing Director Crown Range Cellar.

“The wines commissioned by Crown Range Cellar are serious wines for the real wine connoisseur, wines to cellar, wines to enjoy watching evolve and improve over time. The ISWC recognition for such young wines is an indication of the quality and pleasure they will offer for years to come and gives confidence to those who collect and age,” says Grant Taylor.

Grant Taylor is one of New Zealand’s most awarded Pinot Noir winemakers, earning a string of gold medal and trophy accolades throughout his long career. He has been awarded the trophy for ‘Best Pinot Noir’ at the IWSC twice and at the London International Wine Challenge.

Judging for the IWSC is unique in that it has two stages; first, the products are tasted blind by expert panels, selected from over 300 fully experienced and qualified industry judges.

Products which receive the top medals are then subject to technical analysis before results are released; this crucial stage ensures winners receive complete validation.
