The Fitness Attitude is not just about getting fit. It’s about enjoying getting there, staying there and making it achievable for anyone.

Bevan’s own story would make your hair curl. He failed miserably at school, he couldn’t even spell (at 19 he still couldn’t spell three-letter words), and hated it so he left at 15 and just went completely off the rails for several years.

He was a person who was going in a downward spiral at a fast pace, a pace where he was losing more morals every day. This led to stealing, drinking, heavily in to hard drugs and at 19 he became a father.

He had nothing good in his life — other than his daughter but he didn’t realise that then. It took a bad drug experience to shake him out of his spiral, Bevan tells me he was about as low as he could go, at this point in his life his confidence was so low that he even started stuttering. But this bad drug experience was enough to get him to reflect on the path he was heading down and realise he needed to get himself together and, with the help of
those around him, find a better way.

During this time he rekindled his love of sport, the one thing he felt he had always been good at, and that meant he started to get himself fit again. This pursuit of growth through fitness led to a completely different life, a life where Eyles became a leading figure in the fitness industry internationally.

Bevan says it saddens him when he sees how exercise is often sold to us, the majority of marketing around exercise implies that the only benefits of exercise are six-pack abs for guys and weight loss for girls. The goals are often unrealistic for the majority and therefore people feel worse than before because they can’t achieve them.

He had one aim when writing this book, to share the lessons he has learnt from being a person who has spent his whole adult life being someone who has helped others love fitness and to find the highest levels of himself through exercise. He wanted to do this so the reader can implement these important lessons into their own life. In the book Bevan shares many experiences and tools that will help readers advance their fitness.

The Fitness Attitude will help readers be successful with exercise, gain a deeper understanding of the behaviours that create this, and gain all of the amazing benefits that exercise can bring to their life. As Bevan says ‘Success in exercise is more about the behaviours we use to create success than a type of movement or diet we use. In this book he wanted to share the behaviours that people who are successful with exercise use.’
