Hubbards, New Zealand’s leading muesli maker is not only keeping adventure seekers fuelled with their new protein mueslis and cereal; they are giving adventurous Instagrammers the chance to experience an Outward Bound course in the Marlborough Sound at no expense.

Four Outward Bound courses are on offer, further demonstrating Hubbards’ commitment to The Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand that has already seen the company donate more than 3.2 tonnes of muesli and $2 million from sales of the popular Hubbards Outward Bound Cereal to the adventure school over the past two decades.

This year, Hubbards is taking a more social approach to offering Outward Bound courses and is inviting people to share their NZ outdoor moments on Instagram with the hashtag #MyOutwardBound.

Everyone who uploads their #myoutwardbound moment on Instagram between May 4 and June 5 will be able to enter the draw to win from a prize pool of $30,000, including one of four Outward Bound courses of the winners choosing (from selected Outward Bound courses) or one of ten Kathmandu prize packs. A voucher for a free box of new Outward Bound Muesli will also be sent to each person who shares their NZ outdoor moment on Instagram.

The strong association between Outward Bound and Hubbards began when founder Dick Hubbard attended a course in 1964 as a fresh faced 18 year old.

“The lessons I learned at Outward Bound proved to be lessons for life, including perseverance and finding inner strength; lessons that resonate as strongly today as they did then.  Our desire as a company to make New Zealand a better place is one of the reasons why our connection with Outward Bound is strong and enduring.  We are supporting the organisation to help shape lives for a positive and more resilient country,” says Mr Hubbard.

Since the adventure school opened in 1962, more than 55,000 Kiwis have climbed high ropes, traversed rock walls, summited mountains and kayaked down rapids.

“The partnership with Hubbards has meant literally tonnes of cereal have fuelled our students at breakfast time, so they’ve been ready for a day of outdoor adventure. It’s also been a great opportunity for us to reach out to more people in the community and now we’re really looking forward to welcoming the course winners to Anakiwa, to help them reach their full potential through the outdoors,” says Rob McLean, Outward Bound School Director.

Rebecca Bergs from Hubbards said the company’s Outward Bound Original Cereal has been a staple in Kiwi adventurers’ backpacks for many years and has now been complemented with two new varieties - Apricot & Cranberry and Almond & Hazelnut Protein Mueslis.

“People have told us that they want more protein to start the day.  The protein clusters in the new Outward Bound Mueslis will deliver a delicious protein boost that outdoor adventurers are looking for.” says Rebecca.
