There is a delicious new drink on the Burger King kids meal menu, Meadow Fresh Original fresh milk.

From June, parents that choose the Meadow Fresh milk option as part of their kids meal will receive the meal 25 cents cheaper than those kids meals with other beverages.

John Hunter, CEO of Burger King New Zealand, says, “We are delighted to be working with Goodman Fielder to supply Meadow Fresh milk to our 82 restaurants across New Zealand.

“With the introduction of fresh milk, we will remove all soft drinks advertising from our kids meals nationwide, although parents will still have the option to choose an alternative drink if they prefer.

“Burger King takes its responsibility in marketing to children very seriously, and we challenge the quick service restaurant industry as a whole to follow suit.

“We will continue to listen to our customers and strive to give them the choices they want.   We believe it is important to give parents the opportunity to make healthier choices at Burger King without the pressures of ‘pester power’.”

This latest initiative from Burger King comes shortly after the company announced its intention to remove plastic toys from its kids meal options, and signals a further commitment to the Advertising Standards Authority Children’s Code for Advertising Food. In August 2014 it became the first major burger restaurant chain in New Zealand to display the energy content of menu items on menu boards.
