The inaugural Jacks Point Trail Run and Charity fun run to be held near Queenstown is shaping up to be a popular event with entries coming from as far away as Auckland, Dunedin and Christchurch, as well as a number of local entries coming in too.

Race organizer Andy Town (pictured on the Jacks Point trail) is pleased  with the interest and support being shown from the community and is especially excited to have the backing from a number of  key local sponsors too.

‘Getting good local sponsors coming on board has been my key focus really, without their full support these events could not happen to be honest’

Town is keeping the event capped for the first year to,’ see how it goes ‘and also to make sure key elements of the event are enjoyable and fun for those competing.

‘I feel many events grow too fast and the competitors experience can be overlooked as organisers struggle to cope to  with the extra work load of unexpected entries’

The event is coming up soon, scheduled for Saturday September 5th and it will be a great opportunity for all the family to head out to the stunning Jacks Point area.

There is a 7km trail run for the ‘entry level’ off road trail runner and the 21km half marathon trail run for those wanting a descent challenge.

Alongside these two events  there is a Charity 3km fun event with all proceeds going directly to the Dog Rescue Charitable Trust , ‘the Trust do an amazing service re housing dogs that have been left abandoned and would otherwise be destroyed’.

Town is especially relying on the local community to support the Charity event and to help raise awareness and some sought after   funding for the Dog Rescue Trust, donations will be taken on the day.

Town is planning to have a really fun day for the families with heaps of giveaways for the kids, including a spot prize for a brand new kid’s bike.

In attendance also will be the Patagonia mobile van selling delicious ice creams and coffee, music  sounds,  courtesy of DJ Phillip James and of course a really fun easy flat trail course that all the family and the family pets can walk or run.
