Crown Range Cellar Ltd are pleased to announce a new partnership with Lorgeril Chateaux  de Pennautier, France.

History Brief
Chateau de Pennautier was constructed in 1620. ( Versailles de sud) by an Ancestor of Nicolas de Logeril, hosted the King Louis XIII in 1622. ( when the King was only 16 years old)

It is one of the few world heritage protected place.

Since 1987 currently run by the 10th Generation of winegrowers, Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril, direct descendants of the 1st Marquis de Pennautier, among the oldest wine producer families in France.

This iconic place is the only place in France allows 50/50 blend of Bordeaux varietals and the Mediterranean varietal grapes.

This year, One of our company directors Jing Song has travelled there  and spent couple of days in the Chateau conducted serious wine tasting & visit several grape growing sites of theirs. ‘Our aim is to select and bring back the wines that are suitable for our kiwi’s palates !’ said by Jing. When people talk about French wine, they automatically think of Bordeaux & Burgundy or Champagne. There are so many great boutique and local wines in South of France that yet to be discovered by us. ‘Their wines are so drinkable over a meal, it doesn’t need to be cellared for decades, ‘ there is a ‘ fit’ in our wine philosophy between the two businesses.

Crown Range Cellar Ltd is the very first New Zealand company to acquire the craftmanship and winemaking skills of Patrick Leon, a very highly recognized and acclaimed wine maker worldwide, born and raised in Bordeaux and was the winemaker and managing director for Chateau Mouton Rothschild for over 20 years and other Baron Phillipe de Rothschild wines like Opus One, as well as a winemaker consultant for De Lorgeril wines.

Patrick will be making a Signature Wine Collection for Crown Range Cellar New Zealand for the coming vintage 2016, it will be an limited number realised and each bottle will be signed by himself . A truly unique piece in the whole history of wine in New Zealand.
