Recent investigations have shown that a selection of 100% natural ingredients are effective in combatting tooth decay and maintaining good oral health.

The study, which involved testing the 100% natural ingredients used in Grin® Natural toothpaste against common oral bacteria, found that six out of the seven natural ingredients were extremely effective in inhibiting their growth.

“We found that spearmint, peppermint, fennel, menthol, manuka tree oil and propolis were all effective in inhibiting the growth of harmful oral bacteria for more than 48 hours,” says Dr Tony Mutukumira, Massey University Senior Lecturer.

Mutukumira is lauding the results as a win for the 100% natural movement, which has seen an increasing number of consumers opting for personal care products containing natural ingredients.

“Most commercial toothpaste manufacturers contain potentially harmful chemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and flouride which have been linked to toxicity, skin or eye irritations and can build up in the heart, liver, lungs and brain. Therefore, the fact that this 100% natural toothpaste is still effective without using any harmful chemicals is fantastic.”
Grin Natural Marketing Manager, Tara Tan says,

“It’s important to us to provide all natural products with ingredients sourced locally from New Zealand that deliver scientifically proven health benefits, so we are absolutely delighted by the results of this study.”

Grin Natural toothpaste is free from potentially harmful chemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and flouride.
