One of Waterworld's most popular components has been refurbished in time for summer.

The Splash Pad, designed for the facility’s smallest customers (children under 8 years old) has been given a new lease on life with new sponge flooring, new water toys and an improved safety rating.
Mathew Bayliss, Hamilton City Council's Swimming and Recreation Manager, says the family-friendly swimming facility strives to meet the needs of all family members.

"Children make up a significant percentage of our customers – particularly in summer – so we're very pleased to have the Splash Pad available for our smallest visitors," Mr Bayliss says.

"It's always been a popular part of Waterworld, so refurbishing it ahead of the hottest and busiest part of the season made good sense. We think kids will love it."

The reopening of the Splash Pad coincides with the opening of the outdoor Lido pool for the 2015-2016 summer.

Mr Bayliss says the Waterworld team has also introduced new extended sessions for customers who enjoy the thrill of the facility's hydroslides.
The new offers are:
  • Hyper Mini: Ride the hydroslides as many times as you like, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm from Monday to Thursday. Cost: $5 per person on top of admission fee.
  • Hyper Hydroslide: Ride the hydroslides as many times as you like between 4pm and 8pm on Fridays. Cost $5 per person on top of admission.
  • Hyper Max: Ride the hydroslides as many times as you like between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Cost: $8 on top of admission fee.

Mr Bayliss says the new offers respond to customer feedback, which signalled a clear preference for longer hydroslide sessions. The offers are available to any Waterworld customers aged 5 or older.
"We're heading toward the busy summer season, and the Hamilton Pools team is looking forward to welcoming the region's families," he says.
