Ben & Jerry's Openair Cinemas Set To Land In Auckland This February

For the very first time, Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas are hitting New Zealand’s shores. Marking its international debut, the quintessential summer event will bring popular movies, live tunes and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to Auckland’s Western Springs Park from Friday, 5th February to Sunday, 28th February.

What’s more, every Sunday will feature the popular Ben & Jerry’s Sundae Sessions. A crowd favourite, the day is jam-packed with entertainment including lawn games, New Zealand’s best up-and-coming live bands and free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Before sampling Ben & Jerry’s legen-dairy flavours, patrons can compete in friendly games of Putt Putt, novelty-sized Giant Cow Jenga and Pick-a-Pat. What better way to enjoy summer than lounge in Western Springs Park while reveling in live tunes and immersing yourself in surround sound film – choice!

Films
There’s a flavour for all filmophiles this year, with an assortment of the latest and greatest releases due to light up the big outdoors screen, including:

• Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens — The force, it's calling to you... just let it in
• The Good Dinosaur — The perfect feel-good family movie
• Joy — And you thought your family was wild...
• Sisters — Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are a force to be reckoned with
• The Hateful Eight — Quentin Tarantino. Need we say more?
• 30th Anniversary Screening of Back to the Future — Great Scott!

Music
The best local bands are also set to perform at the event, with artists to be confirmed closer to the date.

On top of all this, Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas will be the ultimate place to kick start the weekend each and every Friday as Aperol Sunsets will see the best local DJs take to the decks, bringing the perfect musical backdrop for Aperol Spritz sundowners, along with free samples available for over 18s.

Deckchairs, bean loungers and blankets will be available for hire, adding a touch of comfort to an eventful night under the stars.

Food and Drinks
Complementing the entertainment line-up is a fully licensed bar stocked with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and a wide selection of Giesen wines, Monteith’s Beer and Rekorderlig Cider. Farina Restaurant will also be serving up a delicious range of signature salads and gourmet pizzas.

Ticketing
Earlybird priced General Admission tickets will be available online from $12 per ticket until midnight 31 December ($10 for concessions). Cinemagoers can also opt for a Star Class ticket – always a popular choice – which includes reserved premium seating with a blanket and cushion for a luxurious film-watching experience, alongside a complimentary drink and the classic Ben & Jerry’s shortie. Ticket buyers are recommended to book early to avoid missing out.
