Hundreds of Hamilton’s youngest residents have posted their Christmas wish-lists to Santa via the giant mail box in Christmas Place.

Garden Place has been re-named ‘Christmas Place’ for the festive season as it is filled with activities during lead-up to Christmas.

City Events Manager Tracey Wood says Santa has been delighted with the number of letters, and has been double-checking his list ahead of the big day. He replies thanking everyone who writes and enjoys reading the requests.

“Santa says there have been some great letters this year. One youngster asked for a baby goat, but added it had to be without horns. Another asked for a surprise, but wanted Santa to make sure no-one else got them the same thing. There have been a lot of requests for pools, puppies and action toys, and one local youngster included a list of all the household chores they had completed recently to back up their claim of having been a good boy!”

There are still a few days for youngsters and their families to enjoy the delights of Christmas Place against the backdrop of the city’s giant Christmas tree.

Until Christmas Eve, kids can work off some of their excited energy on a bouncy castle, get their face painted, snap a photo in the giant selfie frame, climb into Hamilton's very own inflatable snow globe, enjoy the petting farm or have a go on the slides.

“This is a special time of the year, and Hamilton Christmas City is one of the favourite events for us at the Council. We wish all of our residents a truly special and safe festive season, and we’ll be taking last-minute letters for Santa right up until Christmas Eve,” Tracey says.
