There is nothing worse than being back in the office after the summer break suffering from ‘post-holiday blues’. It has been said that the best cure is to book your next holiday and the Pacific Island paradise of Niue, also called “The Rock,” is the perfect remedy.

If you are already dreaming of your winter getaway, Niue is the place to go.  Imagine stepping off the plane and immediately being hit with a balmy 27 degrees while your mates are rugged up at home in their winter woollies. Imagine taking a dip in some of the world’s clearest waters with some of the world’s most unique marine life. Imagine sailing next to racing dolphins while you cast your line for massive Wahoo.

The charm of Niue, which is about three hours by plane north east of New Zealand, is in the fact that while it’s one of the world’s smallest countries, it’s also one of the largest raised coral atolls on earth.
That means unparalleled water clarity of up to 80 metres just off shore. It’s a fisherman and divers’ dream, where there are plenty of tours to take, as well as endless opportunities to explore the island for yourself.

With the currency being in New Zealand dollars and five or seven night holiday specials currently on sale with Air New Zealand, booking your tropical escape to Niue will not break the bank. Once you have arrived on the island the endless array of marine and land activities will get any adventurer’s heart pumping.

To help combat ‘post-holiday blues’ the people of Niue recommend the following:
1. Grabbing your towel, snorkelling gear and heading to some of Niue’s many rock pools, coves and chasms. Such as Limu Pools and Matapa Chasm on the Northern side of the island.

2. Snorkel in style with Magical Niue Sea Adventures underwater scooters and follow the harmless sea snake on its journey through the reef. http://www.magicalniue.com/

3. Go diving in some of the world’s clearest waters with up to 80 metres water clarity- Jump on board a Buccaneer Adventures Niue Dive boat to get up close and personal with the local marine life such as the Humpback whale. http://www.niueisland.com/diving-and-snorkelling/

4. With a land area of 260sq.km and less than two thousand resident’s you often feel like you are the first one to discover the many secluded coves, caves and rock pools. So spend time self-exploring! Be sure to spend your Sunday’s down by the water at Willie’s honesty burger bar - Washaway Café in Avatele.

5. Cast your rod into the deep Niuean Ocean to reel in the darting game fish on a fishing charter or on a Vaka, a traditional Niuean canoe. http://www.niueisland.com/fishing/
