Helping New Zealander’s reach their goal is the better-for-you snack foods brand, Well Naturally. Since its inception over a decade ago, Well Naturally has been committed to creating high-quality, sugar-reduced products that consumers can enjoy without the side of guilt.

The World Health Organization recommends that your daily sugar intake should be no more than 5 teaspoons (4g) a day. Currently, the average New Zealander’s daily sugar intake is 37 teaspoons per day - more than double the recommended amount.

As a pioneer in No Added Sugar snacking, Well Naturally has been commissioned by several retail partners to lead this significant category development, which will help showcase and communicate the benefits of “No Sugar Added” snacking. Making it clearer and easier for health-conscious people to treat themselves better, all Well Naturally products will now be branded as Well Naturally No Sugar Added.

This includes the famous Well Naturally Milk and Dark Chocolate, Cooking Melts, High Protein Bars and Cereal Bars. When consumers see the No Sugar Added brand, they will automatically know they are making a healthier choice. Well Naturally also have a new range of No Sugar Added Chocolate family share blocks in both dark and milk varieties.

The 90g blocks are available in Dark Chocolate: in Mint Crisp, Rich Dark and Acai varieties; and Milk Chocolate: in Creamy Milk and Fruit & Nut varieties. "We want our well-established market position – as leaders in the No Sugar Added category – to really shine.

This is an opportunity to reach the market with a stronger, clearer brand message of 'No Sugar Added' across all of our products, and make it easier for consumers to know they are selecting a healthier snack,” says Well Naturally Brand Manager Tracy Wong.

"New Zealander’s are consuming far more sugar than is necessary. It's in the fruit juice they have for breakfast, their pasta sauce at lunch, and their sweet afternoon treat. Our mission is to help consumers reduce their sugar intake, thereby increasing their overall health and wellbeing, whilst still being able to indulge in their favourite snack," says Wong.

“The problem with excess sugar consumption is that sugar, in its simplest form, delivers no nutritional value other than energy,” explains Well Naturally food scientist Wladimir Budnik.

“Sugar contains 17kJ of energy per gram. This energy is therefore considered ‘empty calories’.
