A dazzling diamond ring or a sleek luxury car could be the ultimate ‘take home’ prize for a lucky golfer (or two) competing in this year’s BMW ISPS Handa New Zealand Open.

New Zealand’s premier golf tournament has announced details of its renowned hole-in-one competition during this week’s tournament (March 10 to 13).

Professional and amateur players can win the incredible prizes – each worth hundreds of thousands of dollars - if they ace either the tenth or 16th holes at The Hills.

At the new-look par 3 16th hole, Michael Hill is generously giving away a stunning 4.70 carat diamond ring worth over $600,000 to the first amateur or professional golfer who scores a hole-in-one on the final day of play, Sunday March 13.

The ring comes from Michael Hill’s designer bridal collection, featuring a D colour, internally flawless round brilliant diamond surrounded by a ‘halo’ of diamonds in Michael Hill’s signature ‘Allegro’ style. The diamonds are set in platinum.

Sir Michael Hill says he’s delighted to offer such a unique and very special hole-in-one prize.

“This is an extraordinary piece that you can’t help but love,” he said.

“The ring will be displayed at our store on The 19th village, dazzling passersby until one lucky golfer sinks the perfect shot on Sunday in front of thousands of keen golf fans.

“We wish all the players the best of luck and certainly hope it’s won!”

Meanwhile, the first professional to score a hole-in-one on the par 3 10th hole at The Hills will take home a magnificent new BMW 7 Series, the ultimate in driving luxury. The prize is available over all four days of the tournament until the first professional player achieves a hole in one.

Valued at NZD $239,500, the BMW 750i has been recognised by the National Business Review as their 2015 ‘Luxury Car of the Year.’

“The new BMW 7 Series introduces a host of world-first technical innovations, such as Gesture Control, Laserlight and the impressive new remote control parking,” said BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director, Florian Renndorfer.

“Combined with lavish interior appointments, elegant exterior design and trademark driving dynamics, this incredible vehicle is the epitome of motoring excellence and will shape the future of automotive luxury.

“We’re extremely proud to showcase our most innovative and technologically advanced flagship model as part of our ongoing partnership with New Zealand’s leading golf event,” said Renndorfer.

The BMW ISPS Handa New Zealand Open is a Tier One event on the PGA Tour of Australasia, in partnership with the Japan Golf Tour. The 2016 event will be played from March 10 to March 13 at two iconic Queenstown courses, The Hills and Millbrook.
