Starting this month, Films by Starlight will bring movie classics for free to outdoor spaces around the city.

The outdoor movies are presented by Hutt City Council and supported by The Professionals, Redcoats Ltd.

Disney classic Mary Poppins is the first movie on show, starting at 7.30pm on Friday 18 March at Dowse Square. Grab a picnic blanket or low chairs and head down to enjoy a family favourite all about the importance of family and laughter.

City Promotions Manager Brad Monaghan says, “Films by Starlight is a perfect way to cap off what has been a summer full of great events around Lower Hutt. The films were popular last year, and this year we’re hoping they’ll be even better with an earlier start time to make it easier for families with young children.

“The line-up was put together with families and the nostalgic amongst us in mind. Films like Mary Poppins are so timeless that some who saw it as children themselves may now be able to watch it with their grandchildren.”

After Mary Poppins, there are three more films in the series.
