Hundreds of visitors to the prestigious and high profile fashion event – Air New Zealand Fashion Week - are expected to converge on the Glassons stand to enter New Zealand’s most coveted t-shirt competition on the public open days – 20th and 21st September!

Glassons and NZ Fashion Week are once again collaborating to give a lucky person the chance to have their t-shirt sit alongside the 2009 Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust tshirt designers.

Last year, the inaugural competition attracted nearly 500 entries and was won by 23 year old Jun Arita from Japan.

Jun’s t-shirt, a bright and busy design featuring iconic Kiwi buzzy bees, showcased next to designs from the likes of Karen Walker, Trelise Cooper and Kate Sylvester, just three of the big fashion names supporting the Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust T-shirt campaign each year.

This year, Glassons is also opening the competition to a wider number of New Zealanders by accepting entries through stores nationwide, their website as well as at Fashion Week. Four regional winners will automatically be given finalist status into the competition, flown to Auckland and whisked off to Fashion Week.

All entries will be judged by a nominated panel on the week commencing 28th September.

The winning design will then go on to become one of a handful of t-shirt designs to feature on the Glasson’s racks next January.

The Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust t-shirt campaign has now been running for six years, and has involved some of New Zealand’s, and the world’s, top designers and celebrities.

More importantly, the campaign has already raised more than $3 million dollars for
The Breast Cancer Research Trust.

The Glassons stand will again be located in the Rumpus Room, and will be a fun and
interactive space where the public can stop for a moment, take some creative inspiration and have a chance to go down in history as a Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust t-shirt designer.

Glassons General Manager, Jamie Whiting, says; “It’s wonderful to be at Fashion Week again and have the opportunity to celebrate the fantastic charity t-shirt campaign run each year with The Breast Cancer Research Trust.”

“It’s also a chance for us to say a big thank you to those designers in particular, who have been so generous in giving their time and creative inspiration to support our campaign over the years,” says Jamie.

“We are expecting at least double the number of entries received last year, and we’re
extremely excited to see what designs the public come up with as we know from last year, that New Zealand has some amazing talent out there.”

Alison Taylor, CEO of The Breast Cancer Research Trust, says; “With the Breast Cancer Research Trust’s renewed mission to find a cure for breast cancer not just in our lifetime but in the next decade it’s more important than ever before to raise as many funds as possible through the Glassons t-shirt campaign. By taking the public competition nationwide we hope to not only find the next bright shining star in New Zealand fashion but also generate more interest in the campaign and even more t-shirt sales.

Entry into the t-shirt design competition at Fashion Week will be by way of a gold coin
donation to The Breast Cancer Research Trust, for which entrants will receive an entry form to draw their designs on.
