Intriguing Accomodation
If you’re looking to stay somewhere a little left of centre, look no further. From 1800s accommodation to a hotel that is “not a hotel”, we’ve found three places that are an adventure in themselves:

The Notel
Harper Lane, Melbourne, VIC, 3000
Opening Date: TBC

By definition The Notel is, in fact, a hotel, but in reality it is so much more – it is a true Melbourne experience. Guests of the unique establishment will stay in renovated authentic Airstream caravans, each fitted out with a queen bed, couch, TV and luxurious bathroom. Explore The Notel’s surrounding laneways, full of cafes and street art, before shacking up in the five-star rooftop accommodation for the night.

1860 Luxury Accommodation
4 Surrey Lane, Beechworth VIC, 3747
http://bit.ly/22jh3Q8
Who needs a time machine when you can enjoy aspects of the 19th century with all the perks of the 21st at 1860 Luxury Accommodation. Located in Beechworth, the humble eucalypt timber slab hut is full of history; it was originally built in the 1860s by a German carpenter and was later used as a wildlife refuge and haven for homeless youth, prior to its inception as luxury accommodation. Its current owners have stayed true to its history, while adding an element of elegance and luxury to its offering.

Cape Otway Lightstation
1395 Bloomfield Road, Crossover, VIC, 3821
http://bit.ly/1prKLki
Built in the 1850s, Cape Otway gives guests a taste of the life of a lighthouse keeper. Constructed out of stones from the nearby Parker River, the house is available to rent as a whole house, in sections or as a Bed and Breakfast. Visit Cape Otway Lightstation and enjoy towering coastal views of the Southern Ocean, spectacular sunsets and close encounters with koalas.

Bars Worth Getting Lost For
It’s easy to get lost in Melbourne’s city centre and discover places you tell yourself only you would have found. Tell your friends about that quirky bar you found in the middle of ‘somewhere’ with these fantastic watering holes:

The Croft Institute
21 Croft Alley, Melbourne VIC 3000
http://bit.ly/1QRzh3S
Most of us don’t want to find ourselves in an institute but this one’s an exception. Hidden down a Chinatown alleyway, just getting to The Croft Institute is part of the experience. The bar has a retro feel to it, containing an old school science lab and gymnasium in which visitors can enjoy unique cocktails, a boutique wine list and ice cold beer

Bar Americano
20 Presgrave Pl, Melbourne VIC 3000
http://bit.ly/1M1ovIe
The saying “size isn’t everything” certainly applies to Bar Americano; a tiny bar exceptionally hidden on one of Melbourne’s smallest laneways. With no room for seats, just 10 lucky patrons are permitted in the bar at a time, where high class cocktails are prepared by uniformed mixologists.

Fall From Grace
477 Collins Street Melbourne VIC, 3000
http://bit.ly/1aMkIMS
You really have to get lost to find this 007 style bar. Located in the west end of Melbourne inside the bar State of Grace, entry to Fall from Grace is via a bookshelf. If you’re lucky enough to find it, venture inside to sip on a martini and experience the mischievous atmosphere.

Italian Revival
Melbourne’s famous laneways are experiencing somewhat of an Italian renaissance, with the city welcoming several new Italian establishments in recent months.

A25
399 Lonsdale St, Melbourne Victoria 3000
http://bit.ly/1lIqowM
The A25 is a freeway that links the cultural and historic city of Rome with the exquisite and relaxing coastal town of Pescara. It is also the name of three Melbourne-based restaurants, where guests can experience casual Italian dining with a Melbournian twist. A25 honours the heritage of old world Italian tradition, while serving fresh and locally grown produce that has been prepared using unique methods.

Tipo 00

Named after the flour used to make pasta, Tipo 00 has won over the hearts of Melbourne’s food critics. Owners Andreas Papadakis, Luke Skidmore and Alberto Fava set out with the simple mission of showcasing their passion for Italian food. It’s proving successful, with the restaurant already boasting numerous awards, including being named as TimeOut’s Best Casual Dining Restaurant in 2015 and The Age Good Food Guide’s Best New Restaurant in 2016.
