Hamilton City Libraries will formally mark the creation of the mural by artist Flox (Hayley King) at a special event on Wednesday, 25 May.

The mural, adorning the back of the Hamilton Central Library – and which can be seen from Collingwood Street – is a part of the Central City Transformation Plan’s Laneways Project. It reflects the lush Paradise Gardens collection at Hamilton Gardens, and took five days to complete.

The project was funded by the Vibrant Hamilton Trust.

Flox will discuss her work as part of the event, which is scheduled for 3.30pm. Other speakers are Mayor Julie Hardaker, Vibrant Hamilton Trust’s Thomas Gibbons, Hamilton Public Arts Panel’s Margi Moore and Hamilton City Libraries Director Su Scott.

Media are invited to attend, and should RSVP to Liz Horne – liz.horne@hcc.govt.nz
