Cupcake Day is going to the dogs...

...and the cats!

Well not entirely, but there's definitely a furry friend option on the menu this year!

You're no doubt aware that SPCA's National Cupcake Day is on Monday, this is one of the major fundraising events on their calendar. Last year New Zealanders raised $390,000 for animals in need. 

And while many of us will get to chow down on a icing-topped treat, Purina thought it was only fair that our furry friends do too. 
Purina being a friend of SPCA's (and a major food partner) have come up with cupcake recipe that our favourite furry friends can enjoy come Monday. 


The team have devised a few recipes for Pupcakes and Meowffins (see what they did there!) that we thought might be fun to share. A quirky way to help bring a little awareness to a really worthy campaign.

Purina Pupcakes & Meowffins! 



Ingredients

- 2 cups of Purina One dry dog or cat food
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 large potato
- 1-2 tsp milk
- Beggin’ strips or a dollop of Fancy Feast to garnish

Method

- Spray a muffin tray with a light cooking oil or use paper muffin cups. For large dogs use a standard muffin tray, for small dogs and cats use a cupcake tray
- Place dry food and a liBle warm water in NutriBullet or electric mixer. Be careful not to add too much water at once, and blitz unGl you have a thick mixture
- Using your hands roll a heaped tablespoon for dogs or desert spoon for cats of mixture into a ball and place in a the tray
- Place muffins in the fridge and allow to harden
- Microwave potato in a liBle water unGl soK, mash with a liBle milk then decorate PUPcake or MEOWffin
- Garnish with a piece of Beggin’ strip, some baby carrots or a teaspoon of Fancy Feast!

Makes 4-6 PUPcakes or 6-8 MEOWffins
