Australian foodie, Judy Phillips, has re-released her feel-good cook book, Good Life Great Food: Recipes for Loving and Sharing (RRP $35), in time for Mental Health Week, which runs from October 9th to 15th this year. Having personally witnessed the devastating effects of depression and bipolar disorder, Judy is donating 100 percent of sales of the cook book, which features over 90 “feel good recipes”, to mental health organisation the Black Dog Institute.

As a passionate home cook and renowned cooking teacher, the mother of five created her debut cook book to show others how easy it can be to make nutritious, delicious, mood-boosting family meals every day of the week.

Preparing and sharing food with loved ones is one of the simple pleasures in life, that can create a sense of true happiness. I have had a number of people close to me tragically affected by mental illness and I wanted to produce a cookbook that fosters togetherness over nurturing food, nourishing the mind as much as the body,” said Judy.

Judy’s fresh, seasonal recipes are adapted for today’s health conscious lifestyles and are inspired by her love of entertaining, her travels, some favourites from her cooking classes and, most of all, her family. In fact, many of her recipes are family treasures that have been handed down from her Hungarian grandmother.

“Staying true to my passion for mental health, many of my recipes are based on fresh, healthy, mood boosting, whole-food ingredients such as lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy and green leafy
vegetables, all of which are bursting with vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are known to foster a healthy mind," said Judy.

Stunningly styled and photographed, Good Life Great Food: Recipes for Loving and Sharing  features 90 easy to follow recipes, including a delicious range of starters, mains, salads, sides and desserts. A few of Judy’s favourites include her Healthy Sashimi Salad and her BBQ Barramundi with Mango Salsa and for something sweet, “the Flourless Chocolate Cake and Fig, Plum and Ricotta Tart are always crowd pleasers,” she says.
