Gibbston Valley Winery launches Vintage Méthode Traditionelles

• 2011 Blanc de Blancs Méthode Traditionelle and Rosé Méthode Traditionelle
• Limited release, only 200 cases of each 

Forever linked with the rise of Central Otago Pinot Noir, historic Gibbston Valley Winery is excited to announce the release of two brand new vintage sparkling wines.

Bursting onto the scene will be two ultra premium bottle fermented wines, a 2011 Blanc de Blancs and 2011 Rosé.

The very limited release vintage wines have been a long time in the making. Extended bottle maturation has been critical in setting the quality, according to winemaker Christopher Keys.

“These are long term creations made with real care and patience. They have the best fruit, some very gentle winemaking, and a whole lot of time. We haven’t had any pressure to release these wines, so they have the benefit of extended maturation in bottle on lees,” said Keys.

“We have been meticulous and patient, and that really pays off when you feel the richness, elegance and texture of the
wines.”

Beginning in 2010, Gibbston Valley’s venture into sparkling wine sought to capture the ideal climatic conditions in Central Otago for sparkling wine production. 

The winery released its first méthode traditionelle in 2015, which sold out within months. The release of
the vintage wines marks the apex of this project. 

“These wines are very gently  pressed, have barrel fermentation, then 56 months in bottle. That is a
serious amount of time in anyone’s language.”

The elegantly presented Blanc de Blancs and Rosé come in individually packaged presentation cases
