Now in its 16th year, multi award winning Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival driven by Frizelles is one of the largest free music festivals in Australia, entertaining locals and visitors with almost 70 acts on 20 stages. Situated on the picturesque Gold Coast, the event draws more than 160,000 visitors over its four days from May 18 to 21 and is a perfect excuse for a sunny trip away.

Between the laid-back vibe of Surfers Paradise and the small-town comfort of Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta, the Gold Coast is an ideal spot for a relaxed holiday. The Gold Coast is also a hotspot for Kiwi’s, with New Zealand being the highest stated country of birth for residents, after Australia. Stunning beaches are the Gold Coast’s star attraction, and Blues on Broadbeach allows you to escape the May winter blues, while also enjoying world class entertainment! So, grab some friends and have a weekend away, enjoying some free music, warm vibes, beautiful sights, and great company.

Festival headliner and Cold Chisel icon Ian Moss loves the relaxed atmosphere of Blues on Broadbeach.  “It’s a great atmosphere. (It) feels almost village-like and there are lots of young people about enjoying the music… I love it.”

The line-up of Blues on Broadbeach features two acclaimed New Zealand acts, KEVIN BORICH and THE FLAMING MUDCATS.

NZ-born guitarist and singer-songwriter KEVIN BORICH will be back in Australia for this year’s festival, following his participation in ‘The Last Waltz - 40th anniversary Concert Tour’ currently making its way around New Zealand. With 40 years of professional experience, and having shared the stage with the likes of ACDC, Santana, Bo Didley, Richie Blackmore, Ron Wood (Rolling Stones), Tony Joe White, Ray Charles, Elton John, Status Quo, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy, Kevin’s performance at Blues on Broadbeach is not to be missed.

Auckland-based band THE FLAMING MUDCATS have been together for more than eight years, and have established themselves among the country’s premier Blues acts. With their signature brand of rocking rhythm and blues, The Flaming Mudcats have taken their sheer energy and musicianship to festivals and clubs in the USA, Australia, Pacific Islands and throughout NZ.

Along with this home-grown Kiwi talent, this year’s stellar line-up features UK superstar BONNIE TYLER, Australian legend IAN MOSS, US rockabilly king SLIM JIM PHANTOM TRIO, along with RAY BEADLE, KEVIN BORICH, JIMI HOCKING’S BLUES MACHINE, HARTS, LOUIE SHELTON BLUESLAND, 19-TWENTY and many more.

Broadbeach Alliance Chief Executive Officer Jan McCormick says the team are delighted with how this year’s Festival is shaping up, and are looking forward to making a few more announcements as the Festival gets closer.

“We are extremely proud of this brilliant line-up. We have international stars performing, local home-grown talent, and I’m confident to say that when you come into the Festival, you will be absolutely blown away with the artists on offer,” McCormick said.

“Visitation numbers are increasing every year and we are expecting this trend to continue, with thousands of people already travelling from interstate and overseas for the event,” she continued.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through TEQ’s It’s Live! In Queensland major events calendar and will present four massive days and nights of Australian and International Blues acts from May 18-21 this year.
