Breaking the Status Quo in Women's Pro Racing

In our previous articles in this series, we featured a discussion with an emerging leader of women’s cycling, Iris Slappendel, and a detailed look at the issues of sexism and abuse in the sport. The women's peloton is stronger and more resilient than ever, but much work remains to be done. We now turn towards the future, and share ideas which can help to change the sport’s competitive landscape and economic future.

We propose four key recommendations whereby women could rally their collective interests, build a collaborative platform with the sport's power base, and connect the sport to a wider and more diverse audience. Everyone – the UCI, the teams, the event organizers and the athletes – would benefit from these advancements.
