Tucked behind the Parnell French markets, an urban oasis, the likes of which New Zealand has never seen before, is taking shape.

RISE Hot Yoga & Pilates, will open its doors as New Zealand’s first ever hot yoga and pilates studio on Saturday 6th May at 79 St Georges Bay Road, Parnell.

While hot yoga has long been practiced in New Zealand, never before have Kiwis been able to practice Pilates within a heated environment.

Bathed in light, RISE’s airy studio lives up to its name with high ceilings, serenely simple interiors and polished concrete floors.

The studio is heated to 27 - 30 degrees and features a fresh air cooling system which extracts extra humidity, so that the studio remains dry and comfortable whilst maintaining all of the benefits of a heated room.

Practicing yoga and mat pilates in a heated environment helps the body to move more freely, increases blood flow and helps shift the focus inward.

Founder, Alexandra Stafford, aims to inspire members to take time out of their busy days to raise their spirits.

“I’ve created a space that not only compliments both Yoga and Pilates but also honours the members. It takes a lot of effort to make time in your day for yourself and I wanted to create a studio that helps to make it a little easier to commit to doing you,” said Stafford.

fter teaching overseas, Stafford returned to Auckland in 2016 with the goal of opening a contemporary, dry-heated space, the likes of which country has never seen before.

“The word RISE literally means to move from a lower position to a higher one so I felt that it was a fitting name for this space which aims to raise spirits, heart rates and frequencies,” said Stafford.

With complementary mats, towels and pre-class refreshments, the 32 spaces available in each class will quickly become highly sought after.

RISE will host 31 classes each week between 6am and 6:45pm on weekdays and between 7:45am and 2:30pm on weekends.

The studio has a range of membership options including a weekly subscription with unlimited access to classes, 5 and 10 class packs and casual visits.

In celebration of the launch, RISE will offer FREE Hot Yoga and Pilates classes on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May. With only 32 places available in each class, online registration is essential.
