Hong Kong will be the setting for some major events from June to August when the city plays host to the annual Hong Kong Summer Spectacular (June 17 to August 31) and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival from June 17 - 19. With an increase in value of the New Zealand dollar now is the perfect time for visitors to take advantage of the dollar and shop, dine and sightsee their way round Hong Kong.

Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the Hong Kong Summer Spectacular is jam packed with fun events, fantastic shopping offers available in the citywide sales and a tempting array of delectable dining delights. Hong Kong is the definitive place to get the latest and hottest products, from trendy clothes and shoes, fine jewellery and beauty products to the latest watches, electronics and authentic, traditional Chinese products. During the Summer Spectacular, shopping and dining in Hong Kong will become even more exciting as substantial discounts will be offered in the city’s popular shopping districts and all the details will be available in the Summer Spectacular activities guide.

Thirty six years ago, Hong Kong hosted the first international dragon boat races. The standards set at that time have been adopted in dragon boat races held in more than sixty countries and regions. Celebrating Hong Kong’s eminent position in the sport, the HKTB is collaborating with the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association to host the ‘Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival’ on Victoria Harbour.

The three-day event will see action in the water and on land with the harbour foreshore of Tsim Sha Tsui East transformed into a large-scale carnival, including a Biergarten, food stalls and music performances and a cultural plaza featuring a street carnival and dragon boat exhibition.

Information on the special offers, activities and entertainment during the Events can be found at the HKTB’s website: www.discoverhongkong.com/newzealand/hkss and for the latest Hong Kong travel packages visitors can contact their local travel agent or visit, www.discoverhongkong.com/ newzealand /jsp/vacation
