Schools throughout New Zealand are being given the chance to kick off their fundraising year with help from Muffin Break’s Great Bake Sale!

Students at schools around the country are being invited to enter their school into the Great Bake Sale through Muffin Break’s Facebook page. Then all they have to do is rally their friends and family to vote for their school.

The winning schools from the North Island and South Island will each win 500 Muffin Break muffins to sell to raise funds for their school. The runners-up schools in each island will receive 200 muffins each.

Muffin Break’s Facebook page will include interactive functionality that allows people to spread the word to their friends and family, as well as a running leader board that shows schools exactly how they’re performing against their competition.

Small schools needn’t worry that they’ll have little showing against schools that boast a large number of students because schools will be ranked by dividing the number of votes with the number of students in each school so that there’s an even playing field.

Muffin Break General Manager Garry Croft says this is the first year Muffin Break has held the Great Bake Sale and he’s excited at the opportunity to help four schools kick off their fundraising in a way that most people will be unable to resist.

“It’s no secret that schools will always have to fundraise to meet on-going financial costs, so we wanted to come up with something that will be fun, interactive and easy for them.

“Plus, we all know that tasty treats always sell well, so we know that the winning schools will have no trouble turning their muffins into much-needed cash,” says Mr Croft.

Schools can begin voting in Muffin Break’s Great Bake Sale from 12pm NZDT on 7 February 2012. The competition runs until 12pm on 13 March 2012, after which the winning schools will be announced.
