Melissa Ingram has picked up another podium placing, finishing second in the 400m freestyle on the second day of the FINA World Cup in Stockholm today.

This follows her win in the 200m backstroke yesterday in the penultimate meet of the seven-round World Cup circuit.

The 23 year old from the Swimming New Zealand High Performance squad at Millennium Institute finished closely behind Olympic 800m freestyle medallist Lotte Friis (Denmark) in a closely fourth race.

Ingram led at the 100m but a major move from Friis saw her with the lead at the midway mark. The pair then duelled it out with Ingram finishing one second behind in 3:03.77, the second fastest for a New Zealander and just outside the national record she set at the Sydney World Cup.

So far Ingram has picked up eight victories and five second placings in the World Cup races with the final round at Berlin at the weekend. She is currently fourth overall in the Wold Cup rankings.

Result, 400m freestyle, Stockholm:
Lotte Friis (DEN) 4:02.64, 1; Melissa Ingram (NZL) 4:03.77, 2; Sasha Matthews (GBR) 4:05.74, 3.
