It’s not only the very latest in fashion on show at iD Dunedin 2012 – it’s THE place to be to see what’s hot in the heady world of catwalk hair styling.

Now in its 13th year, iD Dunedin celebrates the southern city’s fashion identity, creativity and distinct style.

The event is in late March and this year Redken 5th Avenue NYC returns to the catwalk for the 11th time as hair sponsor creating the looks backstage that enrich the glorious fashions out front.

Directing Redken’s backstage styling team in 2012 is husband and wife team Jock Robson and Sara Allsop from Auckland’s Dharma Hairdressing in Auckland’s Mt Eden.

Jock says their role is to decide on a direction for the hair styling that follows the trends brought to the event by the fashion designers while adding international interpretations.

“We always take our cues from the designers and iD Dunedin is renowned for challenging the status quo,” Jock says. “We follow that direction by incorporating the very latest in global trends into the styles they carry under the spotlights.

“Everyone sees the fashion trends that are evolving overseas and we know the designers think it’s important to build on that for their garments while retaining the edginess iD Dunedin is renowned for.

“So to support them, we will be making the hair look international to fit the Redken catwalk philosophy – from Dunedin to New York to Sydney fashion week, Redken plays a big part in global style.”

Jock knows exactly what’s big in New York. He worked in the Big Apple in 2011 where he says there’s very much a ‘worn’ look with more wearable texture and bigger size.

“We are delighted to be heading the Redken team at iD Dunedin 2012.  It’s fantastic Redken has been so closely involved for more than a decade and we just love the alignment with fashion that Redken has developed and nurtured around the world,” says Sara.

Redken is also supporting its New Zealand salons by holding the inaugural Tribe 2012 business conference exclusively for its Club 5th Avenue salons. It’s an action-packed couple of days with inspirational business seminars and lots of events and activities for Redken salon stylists and managers. The end of the weekend will be marked by the Club 5th Avenue annual ball at the historic Larnach Castle.
