Swimming NZ Board appointments completed

Swimming New Zealand is pleased to announce that final appointments have been made to its new Board. 

The full Board is now:

·         Brent Layton (Wellington); Board Chair – 3 year term
·         Gabrielle Rush (Auckland); elected member – 3 year term
·         Clive Power (Pleasant Point); elected member – 2 year term
·         Ian Hunt (Christchurch); elected member – 1 year term
·         Bruce Cotterill (Auckland); appointed member – 2 year term
·         Geoff Brown (Wellington); appointed member – 1 year term

The inaugural Board members commenced their roles on 12 October 2012.  The appointments are made under rule 27 of the Constitution.

“This is a strong, well balanced Board.  Its members bring a range of skills and experience that will ensure Swimming NZ can govern its sport through the challenging times ahead”, said new Chair Brent Layton.

“We intend to work constructively with the wider swimming community and our other stakeholders to implement the changes identified by the Independent Working Group as needed to make swimming the vibrant, successful sport its participants and stakeholders desire it to be”.

“I want to acknowledge the work done by the Independent Working Group, the Appointments Panel   and Sue Suckling, the Governance Administrator, in helping Swimming NZ to get to this point.  Their contributions have been critical and the new Board will work hard to keep the momentum going”.
