The legendary New Zealand singer John Rowles is to release a brand new two-disc anthology album celebrating his impressive career spanning over 45 years. If I Only Had Time will be released on November 2nd.

Over the years there have been several John Rowles collections released - none of which have done justice to New Zealand’s greatest male vocalist either in the sound quality or the packaging. For the last year Universal Music has been scouring the vaults in London and Los Angeles for John’s original master tapes, most of which have never previously been used.

John Rowles If I Only Had Time – The Anthology comes with a lavish 20-page booklet which tells John’s musical story in depth, beginning as the lead guitarist in The Kawerau Shadows in the early sixties.

The booklet follows a defining moment in John’s musical journey, which happened when he was fired from his job at the Kawerau Timber Mill. He traded in his black timber workers singlet for the latest Mod gear and headed on an adventure that took him briefly to the bright lights of Auckland and then to the brighter lights of Melbourne where he sang in a duo with Eddie Low as New Zealand’s answer to The Beatles. In mid 1967, John was discovered by Cliff Richard’s manager Peter Gormley, singing in a small club in Sydney which shifted John’s career overnight from first gear to fourth as London and the world beckoned.

The two-disc album covers his entire recording career, and is the perfect accompaniment to John's recently released book If I Only Had Time – The Autobiography. In stores now.
