The numbers of overseas runners for the 2012 ASICS Kepler Challenge
and the Luxmore Grunt are well up on last year’s tally.

The event to be held on 1 December on the world famous Kepler Track in
Fiordland National Park, is drawing even more competitors from around
the world.

Last year 81 people from overseas entered the ASICS Kepler Challenge
race, covering 60km over the mountains between Lakes Te Anau and
Manapouri, and 14 completed the shorter Luxmore Grunt race.

This year we will see 131 runners from abroad compete in the ASICS
Kepler Challenge and 13 in the Luxmore Grunt.

The runners will compete in capacity fields of 450 athletes for the ASICS
Kepler Challenge and 150 in the Luxmore Grunt.

These athletes have travelled from all corners of the world: Canada,
England, USA, South Africa, Japan, Germany, Finland, France, Poland,
Russia, Ireland, Scotland, Hong Kong, Netherlands, and of course, our
closest neighbours Australia.

Many of our overseas competitors have said in their profiles, that they are
looking forward to further challenges in their running. I think they may
find that, at the 2012 ASICS Kepler Challenge.
