Jumping On Board International Craze
Auckland first NZ city to experience giant trampoline park.
Aucklanders will soon be able to experience a new international craze, with New Zealand’s first premier trampoline park – a purpose-built arena featuring more than 70 trampolines under one roof.
JUMP launches in October and boasts fun ways to vault, bounce, run, exercise and compete including dodgeball sessions, a massive foam pit, performance wall and basketball hoop.
Custom-built in America, the inter-locking trampolines, including ramps and jumps, vary in size and will cover the floor and walls of a 1000 square metre warehouse in East Tamaki.
“Trampoline parks are all the rage in the US. We tried one in Las Vegas and just loved it. We knew we had to bring them to New Zealand,” Jumpoline managing director David Mu said.
“They’re so much fun, and there’s nothing like this in New Zealand. It will really have the wow factor.”
JUMP is expected to appeal to a broad age range and fitness level, from tots to pensioners, Parkour fans to birthday party-goers. JUMP will host up to 70 people at a time on the trampolines as well as three birthday parties an hour, and will house a barista cafe.
David and his wife Sandra Mu, the other managing director in the start-up business, spent a year researching their venture, sourcing a highly-regarded manufacturer, a suitable location and establishing best-practice business and safety systems. The Auckland couple is now recruiting staff for the seven-day entertainment venue that will include fitness classes, corporate dodgeball sessions and free running and aerial technique areas. An hour’s jumping will be priced at $16.50 for adults, $10 for “mini jumpers” (under 110cm) and $50 for a family of four.
“We are already looking at other locations to roll this out as a franchise, because we are confident it will be as popular here as it is overseas,” Sandra says. “It’s a great way for people to keep fit and have fun.”
The pair anticipate launching JUMP’s online bookings as soon as they have a confirmation date for the equipment clearing Customs. Technicians from America will assist with installation.
“There has been weeks and months of time going into making sure JUMP is the best it can be – we can’t wait for Auckland to experience it,” David said.
