Brooklyn-based R&A Cycles Takes Comprehensive Exclusivity in Bike Category for Inaugural Event

BROOKLYN, NY (August 13, 2013) – The 1,500 participants who claim the capped number of spots in the inaugural Brooklyn Triathlon on November 10, 2013 will enjoy an array of exclusive merchandise, service and training opportunities provided by Brooklyn-based R&A Cycles, today named as the "Official Bike and Triathlon Shop" of the Brooklyn Triathlon.

Through this partnership, R&A Cycles will offer special pricing to registered competitors on pre-race bike tune-ups, bike shipping and assembly, and R&A’s team of experts will be providing race day neutral support at MCU Park in Coney Island and along the cycle course. Cycling and triathlon teams and clubs affiliated or sponsored by R&A will receive discounted race entries through special promo codes. Registered competitors also will be notified of special merchandise offers available in store up to race day.

“Every cyclist and triathlete training for and competing in any race knows the huge value of having an experienced bike team available for equipment and support,” said Jack Caress, race director and president of Pacific Sports, the race producer. “Having R&A as a partner doesn’t get any better than this … the largest cycle store, 30 years knowledge of cycling and fitting, and an incredible in-store inventory of the best multisport equipment available. We’re thrilled they are with us.”

The R&A store, located at 105 5th Avenue, will also host on-site registration (if spots are available), packet pickup and a vendor/fitness expo on November 8 and 9, the two days prior to the race. R&A is also offering a 50 percent reduced cost membership to its 2013 Multisport Team (through March 30, 2014), which includes coached practices, access to group rides, email access to coaches, workshops and a 14 week beginner/intermediate training plan designed for the Brooklyn Triathlon.

“We have a deep and long existing passion for triathlon, and an equal passion for the Brooklyn community,” said Aldo Diaz, General Manager of R&A Cycles. “This partnership makes complete sense for us. We can talk to and help competitors, whether they are beginners or elite racers, and we have the opportunity to be part of an event that will exponentially grow in the coming years.”
