The North Face® Freeski Open of New Zealand –the only event in the world to hold Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Big Mountain competitions in one – is all set to go this Thursday, 29th August.

Now into the ninth year of competition, The North Face® Freeski Open has been granted silver status by the AFP World Tour for the Park and Pipe events while the Big Mountain is classified as a 3-star Freeride World Qualifying event. For the world’s best freeskiers this represents a unique opportunity to test their mettle against world class competition ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games whilst still enjoying a fun social schedule. The who’s who of freeski is in town and just a few of the big names to watch out for include The North Face® athlete Devin Logan (USA), Taylor Seaton (USA), Henrik Harlaut (Sweden), Noah Morrison (Canada), Gus Kenworthy (USA), Nick Goepper (USA), Tiril Christiansen (Norway), Lisa Zimmermann (Germany), and Charles Gagnier (Canada).

The action kicks off at Cardrona Alpine Resort on Thursday 29th August with the Slopestyle qualifiers. We’ve had a sneak peak at the course and thought we’d share. Check out the preview at : http://vimeo.com/73207127
