“People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.”
- Sir Edmund Hillary

In 1953, a humble Kiwi made history. He proved that with enough determination, you could achieve extraordinary things. That Kiwi was Ed Hillary, the first man ever to reach the peak of Everest.

The Hillary family have embraced Ed Hillary’s legacy of high adventure, environmental advocacy and charity. Peter, Ed’s son, has twice reached the summit of Mt Everest, trekked 5000 kilometres across the Himalayas, and skied a new route to the South Pole.

Active lives like these require well-planned sustenance to achieve peak performance. As a beekeeper producing honey for his family business, Hillary understood the relationship between food and nutrition and the strength-giving properties of nutrient dense foods. So the Hillary Family and Smartfoods, a Kiwi company passionate about food and nutrition, have combined forces to create a range of foods to feed the bodies and spirits of adventurous Kiwis and to help support a range of charitable activities into the future.

Hillary Cereal & Nuggets and Hillary Peanut+ ranges are high in protein from three sources, and loaded with performance nutrients to fuel the next generation of Kiwi adventurers.

To celebrate the launch and honour the 60-year anniversary of Ed Hillary’s famous climb, we’re putting the nation in his shoes. We’re building an amazing one of a kind climbing experience in Aotea Square and inviting Kiwis to feel what it’s like to be ‘at the top’ and to enjoy breakfast above the world. It will be in place from Wednesday 4th September to Saturday 7th September and is open to the public from 7am until 3pm each day.

Peter Hillary, Ed’s son, will be the first up the wall on Wednesday the 4th and will be on-site until midday to meet budding adventurers.

Every product in the Hillary range, which can be sampled at the climbing wall, has been carefully crafted with Kiwis in mind. They’re nutritionally rich to help fuel high-energy activities and healthy ambitions. We believe the spirit of Ed Hillary will help inspire the next and future generations to raise their sights and dream big.

Following in Ed’s spirit of generosity, a portion of the funds generated from the sale of Hillary foods will go to the Ed Hillary Charitable Trust. The Trust will support the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre, founded forty years ago to help encourage determination and adventure in young people, and the Himalayan Trust. The Himalayan Trust works with the people of Nepal Himalaya to realise their educational, health, economic and cultural aspirations – all at their request and with their cooperation.

The Hillary range is more than food. It’s fuel for intrepid spirits. And with it, we hope to see many more Kiwis reach extraordinary heights.
