Celebrities are renowned for their weekly scandals, fashion hit and misses and short-lived relationships. They are also famous for being ahead of the trends and can start a craze simply by sporting a new hairstyle on the red carpet - who can forget Jennifer Aniston’s layered look in the early 90s or Posh’s recent “pob”?

Leading hair stylist Gareth Chitty says that if you're stuck for inspiration for a sexy new ‘do’ this season, then flicking through magazines and looking at the hair styles of the stars is always a good idea.

Having worked with stars including supermodels Jodie Kidd, Sophie Dahl and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (Bruno), Gareth knows a thing or two about celebrity hair trends.

“The Hollywood A-list are often leading the fashion stakes so I make sure I always follow who is wearing and doing what,” he says. “I think Katie Holmes is leading the way at the moment as her hair always looks healthy and styled. She also experiments quite a bit with her length now that she has lost her school girl looks and hair style and it's brave when you are always in front of the paparazzi.”

Gareth says Hollywood hottie Halle Berry looks much better with a shorter style that really works for her and that Jenny McCarthy has a fantastic blonde bob which is a great cheeky cut. “This is a real winning look on her and with it being one of the upcoming styles, we're bound to see a lot of women copying it,” he says.

If you want to replicate these kinds of celebrity styles, Gareth says it's important to make sure your hair is in optimum condition.

“It's important to start with the basics and having a good shampoo and conditioner such as Pantene's new Nourished Shine range is the basis of a good hair style,” he says. “In these tough economic times when people are on a budget and watching what they spend then Pantene Nourished Shine with 2 X Pro-V is a fantastic cost-effective option.”

With your healthy hair sorted, trawling through your favourite glossies has never been more timely! Cut out all the looks that you like and think will work for you and take them along to your hairdresser to get their expert opinion - consultation is a must to ensure it’s a style that will suit you. Once you’ve got your new look, throw in some sassy attitude to boot – just don’t be surprised if you’re stopped and asked for your autograph on the way to work!
