Taranaki triathlete, Clark Ellice, BMX rider, Victoria Hall and highland
dancer, Morgan Bamford were today awarded AMP Regional Scholarships by
Heartland Insurance and Investment. Clark received a premium scholarship of
$3500 and Victoria and Morgan, a $2000 scholarship each.

Heartland Insurance and Investment spokesperson, Lyall Bunn sings the
winners’ praises. “Taranaki has some wonderful emerging talent. Clark’s
improved his world ranking from 65th to 34th in just nine months. Victoria
has achieved internationally in her sport and was dux of her school last
year and Morgan has taken every highland dancing world title for her age
group since she was nine. They are a very impressive group of young people.
We hope to see Clark and Victoria representing New Zealand (and Taranaki)
on the podium at the Olympic Games in London.

“This is the second year Heartland has been involved in the AMP Regional
Scholarship programme and we’ve really enjoyed the process. It’s another
way for us to support our local community. We’ve also enjoyed the success
of our last year’s winner, surfer Paige Hareb’s particularly the rise in
her world rankings.

Premium scholarship winner, Clark Ellice is a member of the national elite
squad turning its attention to athletes qualifying for the Olympic Games in
London in 2012. He was second in the 2009 New Zealand elite championship
coming only 20 seconds behind Olympic medallist, Bevan Docherty. In April
this year, Clark was placed fourth in the Oceania elite championships. Most
recently, Clark was placed 21st in the 2009 world championship series held
on the Gold Coast.

The AMP Regional Scholarship, sponsored by Heartland Insurance and
Investment, is part of the AMP Scholarship programme. The AMP Regional
Scholarships are part of the national AMP Scholarship Programme and this
year more than $30,000 was contributed by AMP Adviser businesses in
scholarship prizes for their local regions.

The AMP Scholarship Programme is unique in that it is open to all New
Zealanders with the courage, passion, determination and commitment to
achieve their chosen goal. There is no age limit or set criteria.

Since 1998 AMP has helped 100 Kiwis realise their dreams. Previous
