Tony Dodds reports from Lausanne.Well we had World Team Sprint champs today consisting of 265m swim, 6km bike (up a very tough hill twice), then 1.3km run, so it was a really quick race. This team style racing is what they are trying to get into the 2016 Olympics Team racing, it is awesome! Kate Mclroy started off ours, she had a good swim and broke away with six others on the bike then ran ok to come in about fifth, tagged me. I quickly had to make some time up in the swim, and without knowing, myself and a French athlete quickly caught them then broke away on the bike with now down to four of us, NZ, Switzerland, Sweden and France, the Swiss team won it last year and were very strong... After the bike I ran ok but it was so fast! I came in 3rd 5 seconds behind France and tagged Nicky, she swam up to the front then broke away on the bike with now just the Swiss, French and us! Top 3 here we come! Then she ran past the French athlete and was sitting in 2nd! Time for the Finale and Ryan Sissons, our anchor, was up! He's a good hill rider and a quick runner but needed to catch the front in the swim. It wasn't to happen though as the Swiss sensation and bronze Olympic medalist from Athens rode away from Ryan to leave us and France to battle it out for 2nd! The France had grabbed it - just like the rugby world cups everytime - but very very happy for NZ and us to do so well and definitely punched above our weight! So 3rd it was!
