The theme and entertainment has been announced for the SKYCITY ball, one of the most popular events within the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme.

The SKYCITY Narnia Winter Ball is scheduled for the first weekend of the festival, kicking off at 7pm on Saturday 21st June at the Queenstown Memorial Centre. Promising to be a glamorous extravaganza of all things Narnia, guests will be transported to the land of eternal winter.

Tickets for the glitzy event will go on sale on Monday 5th May, alongside other events within the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme, and Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham says they are expected to sell quickly.

“The SKYCITY Ball is one of the most popular events for visitors and locals, and last year the event sold out within one week. The Narnia theme is set to impress, so people need to get in quick to ensure they don’t miss outthere were some very disappointed people last year when all the tickets sold so quickly!,” says Lisa.

Following the very successful return of the Festival Ball to the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme in 2013, SKYCITY Queenstown announced their continued support of the event for Winter Festival’s fortieth anniversary earlier this year.

Billed as the glamour event of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, Michelle Baillie, General Manager SKYCITY Queenstown, is proud to ensure the event remained in the programme.

“The 2013 SKYCITY Casino Royale Ball was such a success, so we were delighted to ensure that it was again part of the programme during the Winter Festival’s fortieth anniversary year. SKYCITY Queenstown has been a long time supporter of the festival, having sponsored the event every year since the casino opened, and this is a really exciting opportunity to get behind it once again,” says Michelle.

The transformation of the Queenstown Memorial Centre into a magical Narnia winter wonderland will be accompanied by sensational entertainment from the dazzling Jackie Clarke and dashing Frankie Stevens and is certain to make guests relive this magical childhood tale. Jazz fans will also enjoy a performance from the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra, with special guest Rodger Fox.

Tickets to this glamorous, adults-only winter soiree are $159 per person and include a three course meal and wines from Central Otago’s Gibbston Valley Wines.

Tickets for a number of other American Express Queenstown Winter Festival events will also go on sale on 5th May, for more information about what’s on check out www.winterfestvial.co.nz.
