The 21st Annual Wattie's Can's Film Festival Line-up Announced

The Wattie’s Can’s Film Festival is back for the twenty-first time and this year’s line-up includes some of the most popular films of 2014, from the blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; to the book-to-movie success The Giver.

On the night of Wednesday 12 November, Kiwis across the country who have swapped cans of food for movie tickets at participating cinemas, will enjoy a wide range of blockbuster films.

Other films on offer this year include: Planes: Fire & Rescue – a third instalment from the creators of Cars; The Boxtrolls – a tale of a young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors; and The Guardians of the Galaxy – the perfect film for superhero and Marvel comic enthusiasts.

The Wattie’s Can’s Film Festival provides essential support to the Salvation Army in stocking up their food banks for the busy Christmas period. For every can donated, Wattie’s will donate one can of their own to ensure The Salvation Army have the supplies they need to support Kiwis in need this Christmas.

Major Pamela Waugh, The Salvation Army’s Secretary for Social Services says: “The Wattie’s Can’s Film Festival has been a vital contributor to our food banks for two decades. We are always in desperate need of donations to our food banks – especially canned food. We would struggle to keep up with demand without the support from Wattie’s and the generosity of Kiwis attending the festival,”.

Once again, EVENT Cinemas, Hoyts Cinemas, Reading Cinemas and independent cinemas nationwide are generously offering their theatres for the Festival night, 12th November, at approximately 40 locations across the country.

Cans of food can be exchanged for Festival night tickets at participating cinemas from Wednesday 5th November right up to the Festival night.
